iGUIDE Frequently Asked Question

chevron-rightHow fast does the PLANIX system operate on-site?hashtag

The iGUIDE PLANIX system has arguably the fastest capture time in the 3D modelling space. With a 10-16 second scan time, a property of 3000 sq ft can be completed in just 15 minutes.

chevron-rightDoes the system work on exteriors?hashtag

Yes, all iGUIDE camera systems are capable of capturing exterior scans. However, there are a few important considerations to ensure success:

  1. Weather Resistance: iGUIDE cameras are not water-resistant and should be kept dry. Avoid exposing the system to wet weather conditions to maintain functionality and accuracy.

  2. Handling Exterior Scans: Exterior scans can be managed during the capture process or adjusted in post-processing:

    • Alignment: The Planitar Drafting Team does not align exterior scans, as this process is tailored to the capture specialist's preferences and the unique conditions of the site. Drafting assumes the scans are already in their intended positions.

    • Placement: If there isn’t sufficient data to align the scan (e.g., the building is out of range of the lidar), you can manually place and rotate the scan to where it is most relevant in the final output.

  3. Drafting Support for Exterior Scans:

    • Alignment: The Planitar Drafting Team does not align exterior scans, as this process is tailored to the capture specialist’s preferences and the unique conditions of the site. Drafting assumes the scans are already in their intended positions.

    • Floor Assignments: The Drafting Team also does not move exterior scans between floors. Exterior scans should be correctly assigned during capture.

By following these guidelines, you can effectively integrate exterior scans into your projects while preserving the accuracy and quality of your iGUIDE virtual tours.

chevron-rightDoes the system work on large properties? (hotels, commercial buildings, etc.)hashtag

Yes, iGUIDE camera systems can capably handle properties of any size. In this scenario, more scan points would capture larger areas.

chevron-rightHow does your camera perform in low light settings?hashtag

The iGUIDE camera system performs well in low-light settings. By utilizing its HDR (High Dynamic Range), the camera system can brighten darker spaces to assist in processing claims quicker and easier.

chevron-rightHow accurate are PLANIX measurements?hashtag

The iGUIDE PLANIX camera system accurately measures the distance to walls within 1-2cm (approx. 0.4-0.8″) of uncertainty up to a maximum range of 40 meters (approx. 131.2′). iGUIDE PLANIX uses time-of-flight laser scanning technology with thousands of laser points per second in a 360 degree field of view. iGUIDE method of measurement for floor area calculations is summarized herearrow-up-right.

chevron-rightHow is your system different from Matterport?hashtag

While there are similarities between Matterport and iGUIDE, there are also key differences. iGUIDE is proud to offer an industry-leading degree of accuracy with a faster and easier capture process accompanied by no subscription fees.

chevron-rightWhat is the battery life of the system?hashtag

The iGUIDE PLANIX has a battery life of 7+ hours.

chevron-rightCan you use Ricoh Theta X?hashtag

At this time, our system only supports the usage of the Ricoh Theta Z1.

chevron-rightCan you use the system outside?hashtag

Yes, you can use the system to collect exterior scans or to collect large open spaces. The only caveat to open spaces is that there will be little to no laser data for accurate scan placement. NOTE: You should not use the system in adverse weather conditions such as high winds or rain without the appropriate protection.
